Peacemaker Bumpers – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What makes Peacemaker Bumpers different from other bumper retailers?
- Peacemaker Bumpers has specialized in heavy-duty aftermarket bumpers for over 15 years. We focus on durable, proven brands like Steelcraft, Frontier-Gear, Tough Country, and Outlaw Bumpers, and we know exactly what fits, functions, and looks right on your truck.
2. Do your bumpers fit trucks with front sensors, adaptive cruise control, or cameras?
- Yes! Many of our bumpers are specifically designed to retain OEM features like front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, front cameras, and factory fog lights. Fitment notes are clearly listed on each product page.
3. Can I install these bumpers myself or do I need a professional?
- Most of our bumpers are bolt-on and require only basic tools and mechanical knowledge. That said, some models may require two people to install due to weight. If you’re unsure, professional installation is always a good option.
4. Do Peacemaker bumpers come with a warranty?
- Yes, all bumpers we sell include manufacturer warranties. Please keep in mind that most all manufacturers do not reimburse freight, un-install, or re-install fees. Details can be found on the warranty page
5. Are these bumpers compatible with factory tow hooks and fog lights?
- Most of the bumpers we carry retain factory tow hook and fog light access. Check the individual product details for your truck model to confirm compatibility.
6. What is the difference between a pipe bumper and a flat plate bumper?
Pipe bumpers, like the Outlaw Traditional or HD Pipe series, have a round-tube construction for a classic ranch look. Flat plate bumpers, such as the Steelcraft Elevation or Fortis, use heavy gauge steel plate for a sleek, angular appearance.
7. What is e-coating and why does it matter?
E-coating is an electrostatic primer process that bonds to steel and prevents corrosion before the powdercoat is applied. It significantly increases durability, especially in harsh environments or salty climates.
8. Do you offer rear bumpers too?
- Yes, we offer rear bumpers for most full-size trucks. Many rear bumpers come with backup sensor compatibility and some with optional LED cube light provisions.
9. Can I order bumpers for older trucks?
- Absolutely. We carry bumpers for trucks as far back as the 1980s, including popular classic models like the square-body Chevy, Dodge D/W-series, and OBS Ford pickups.
10. How much does shipping cost?
- We offer flat-rate freight and free shipping within the continental U.S on some bumpers, mainly rear and bullnose bumpers. Front bumpers with the full top brush guard typically ship LTL freight carrier (otherwise known as common-carrier) and those rates are quoted over the phone and dependent upon location.
11. How long does delivery usually take?
- In-stock bumpers typically ship out same day or next day. Delivery times vary by carrier but usually range from 2 to 7 (more rural areas) business days.
12. Do you ship to residential addresses or do I need a commercial location?
- We can ship to both residential and commercial addresses. However, commercial locations with loading docks or forklifts, or a freight terminal pick up may save you money on freight costs.
13. Do your bumpers require cutting or drilling?
- Most of our bumpers are direct bolt-on replacements and do not require cutting or drilling. Some cutting that may be required on the newer trucks would apply to the inside plastic fender wells that hang down excessively low..
14. Can I return a bumper if it doesn’t fit or I change my mind?
Returns are accepted within our return policy guidelines, as long as the bumper is unused and in original condition. A restocking fee will apply, and return freight and outgoing freight is the customer’s responsibility.
15. Can I call someone to help me choose the right bumper for my truck?
- Yes! We’re happy to help. You can reach out through our contact page or call us directly during business hours. Our team has hands-on experience and can walk you through any fitment or feature questions.
16. What’s the difference between frame-mounted and body-mounted running boards?
Frame-mounted running boards attach directly to your truck’s frame, where the cab bolts and frame are bolted together, for maximum strength and durability. Body-mounted options connect to the rocker panel and may not support as much weight or stress.
17. Will your side steps fit my Ford/Dodge/Chevy/GMC truck model and year?
Yes, all running boards and side steps sold at PeacemakerBumpers.com are designed for specific truck models, years, bed lengths and cab sizes. Each product page includes fitment details to ensure compatibility but it is always best to give us a call to verify fitment.
18. Are your running boards and side steps rust-resistant?
Absolutely. Each set is finished with a high-quality powder coat over a corrosion-resistant base (like e-coating or primer) to protect against rust, even in harsh environments.
19. Can I install the running boards myself at home?
Most of our side steps and running boards are designed for simple bolt-on installation with rachets and basic hand tools. No drilling is typically required. It is however best to hire a body shop or off-road shop install them if you do not have the capability to remove the factory cab bolts.
20. Do your side steps affect ground clearance or off-road performance?
Our heavy-duty side steps and running boards are designed to provide low-profile support without significantly affecting ground clearance. They add function and protection without compromising off-road capability.
21. Do your side steps support heavy weight or work use?
Yes. These running boards are built to handle serious daily use, with most supporting 300–500 lbs per side depending on the model. Perfect for work trucks, ranch use, and lifted trucks.
